"This DSL feature will provide AOL members with high-speed bandwidth to their personal computers over existing telephone wires. At a typical speed of up to 640 kilobits per second, DSL access will be more than 20 times faster than the standard 28.8 kbps modems."

640 Kbps, end of 99? That's not even half-T1...what happened to 4Mbps ADSL? That's a yawner. I'm in BEL territory where my local cable company is already providing 30 Mbps via cable modems and Roadrunner for $50/month. I'm afraid to ask what the price will be from BEL.

I realize the BEL beancounters get all excited about using "existing telephone wires". But why should the consumer share their enthusiasm?
