MMK

Are you using windows 95 or 98..I had the same problem with mine..Then
we switched to windows NT and have not had any problems with freezing up.....However most kids program will not work on NT..but this will probably change soon since Microsoft seems to be consolidating the functions of windows 98 and NT into their next version which is Windows 2000. We have a friend who works at Microsoft.

MMK: There is a board on SI called COMPUTER LEARNING. Last Saturday I presented this "locking up problem" to them. It is fairly common from what they told me on the Computer Learning thread. I've always used Netscape, but had the lockup on disconnect probably four-five times a week, not always, but certainly too many times.

They suggested to disconnect using the START button, and select the "restart your computer" button rather than the "shut-off computer" button. Shut off computer takes a lot longer than restart computer. Both take longer than I'd like but it is better to do that than have the computer lock up, hit the reset button, run scan disk and sometimes having to make "Undo disks". I'd say this computer has locked up 200 times since last March since I got it.

So this is what I've done since last Saturday and I'm satisfied with using this new procedure.

COMPUTER LEARNING is a good site and they'll answer your questions about anything within just a few minutes. They've since helped me with another problem. Go there on the weekend and read a few messages and see what they are about.

Hope this helps.

PS. I started out with MS Internet Explorer but it was just too cumbersome and hard to work with so I changed to Netscape

MMK - Try doing a Ctrl-Alt-Del one time, that should bring up your task manager. Click on Explorer and choose "End Task", see if that works for you.
