Ashley, read my previous posts about the reasons why. As my mother-in-law used to say "There's many a slip 'twixt the cup and the lip". In other words there is a probability that the deal will fall apart. So arbs go long ASND and short LU to establish a hedged position, effectively betting that the merger will go through. But if it doesn't the arbs get killed. That's exactly what happened to LTC when the TLAB/CIEN deal fell apart, and that's why there is a $5 or so differential. TTFN, CTC
