ATT has hired a public relations firm to lobby the Seattle City Council to not impose a condition to the franchise transfer allowing other companies access to the cable. TCI has alienated many large cities and ATT now has to spend money to clean up their act.

The Dallas City Council approved the transfer of the cable franchise from TCI to AT&T on a 9-6 vote yesterday. Here's the Dallas Morning News story:

AT&T cable deal approved; Council won't force sharing of Net lines

The Dallas City Council approved the transfer Wednesday of the city's cable television franchise from TCI Cablevision to AT&T Corp., which plans to use cable lines to provide high-speed Internet access.
