IMHO, there are/were a lot of institutions that did not want LOR on their list of holdings when annual reports were sent out. Now that they can buy it again, they want a piece of the action. Is there a more diversified, across-the-board satellite play than Loral? Throw in Bernie's reputation, though now slightly tarnished, and it looks good.

BTW, the latest Value Line price target is for 55-85 in the next 2-4 years. Notes in 1999 that the combined transponder leasing business should bring in twice as much money as last year. "These moves should boost already high margins since they leverage existing capacity at very low additional cost."

Note backlog at $2.2 billion , $1.7 billion in projected sat manufacturing revenue, and a higher-than-average rate of incoming orders.

briefing.com. Loral Space & Communications (LOR) 19 3/4 -3/16: CS First
Boston initiates coverage of satellite manufacturer and service provider
with "buy" and a price target of $24; company building network that
should entrench LOR as an integral component of the global
communications infrastructure; 1999 should be a big year for company as
margin expansion should coincide with value creating acquisitions and
strategic investments.....
