Earlie, I have long contended that Japanese rates going higher would be the medicine they need for a turnaround. Folks always try to cure Japanese illnesses with American medicine. The fact is, the Japanese have increased their savings because interest rates are so low. Give them decent rates and they will spend some of what is now going into savings.

I like an aircraft carrier better than a supertanker, as when it starts to sink, some of us can fly off in search of an airport. <G>

There was a currency trader on CNBS today and he was saying the dollar had to improve against the yen because our economy was better than theirs. Odd, he made no mention of supply and demand for the two currencies. I suppose those two factors don't matter in the trading pits any more. <G>
