Actually, I couldn't tell you what is or isn't included in the core PPI. All I know is that CNBC said this morning that the core PPI rose 1%. Yes, 12%/year. If that were the whole story, you guys would have your BK.

But it wasn't. If cigarette prices were removed, the core PPI actually was minus .1%.

So inflation is dormant.

As for food prices, I know that by me, they are not rising, but prices at the pump are slightly.
