Hopefully someone else can post how much the PC market is for the chips ...I've always thought PCs and telecom was the lion's share, but I could be mistaken there.

PCs account for about 1/3 of semiconductor sales. As an aside, a recent issue of Design News said the average automobile contains $200 worth of integrated circuits/MEMS - a higher dollar value than the steel used to build the car.

Yes, you are right. PC's are not the whole ballgame. Alone, PC's account for about two-thirds of global DRAM bit demand. If you include mainframes and PC memory upgrades that probably increase to around 75%. That ratio however will fall as non-PC bit demand increases due to the increasing digitalization of consumer electronics industry.
