28.19% margin is unbelievable. Eric was right, margins will be better than anyone thinks. R&D was better than predicted, 4.44% (I had expected 4.49%. The real surprise was S.G. & A.- 16.32% is much higher than anyone anticipated (I had 15.51%). The likely culprit is the large advertising budget for the I-Mac. I'm o.k. with that because it is short-term and the consumer market strategy is important to Apple. It's nice to know the 13.8 million difference in profit could have added another 8 cents per share to the quarter's results. Congratulations Eric! Marc D.
