Consilium Achieves ISO 9001 Certification
The First MES Provider to the Semiconductor and Electronics Industry
To Receive International Quality Certification
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Consilium, Inc., an Applied Materials, Inc. company, today announced that it has achieved ISO 9001 certification for the design, implementation and servicing functions of the manufacturing execution systems (MES) and next-generation automated factory control products that Consilium markets to the world's leading semiconductor and electronics manufacturers.
ISO 9001 is the most comprehensive ISO 9000 certification level given to companies which meet strict quality system standards developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The ISO 9000 family of standards provides organizations with guidelines on effective quality management systems.
"We now have a world-class certification which is recognized by the professional, technical and purchasing staff who influence selection of factory control systems wherever our products and services are implemented," said Laurence Hootnick, president of Consilium. "Consilium is the only MES software provider to receive this endorsement. I am confident this certification will be viewed as a strong quality differentiator in our market."
"Certification assures current and prospective customers that we have adopted the most highly recognized standards in developing our software products," said Frank Kaplan, senior vice president of development for Consilium. "In fact, our customers, many of whom have systems based on the requirements of one of the ISO 9000 standards, are already using our products and services to pursue their own quality objectives."
"We are especially proud that the development program for our all-new automated factory control systems for fully automated fabs was specifically recognized by our ISO auditor," added Kaplan.
For twenty years, Consilium, which was acquired by Applied Materials in December 1998, has been the leading independent supplier of advanced, factory- wide control systems and services to semiconductor and electronics manufacturers. Consilium's software-based systems monitor and control the manufacturing process in real time, enabling manufacturers to enhance performance in the areas of cost, quality, customer service and speed. Its WorkStream DFS(TM) (Distributed Factory System) product family is used at approximately 300 advanced manufacturing sites around the world. Customers include Advanced Micro Devices, Hewlett-Packard Company, Hyundai Electronics Industries, LG Semiconductor, National Semiconductor, ST Microelectronics, Siemens AG, United Microelectronics Corporation, Wacker Siltronic AG and Winbond Electronics.
