I think that as more people put money into the market more people understand what kind of growth can happen over a longer period of time and this causes valuations to go up. The market has traditionally looked 6 mo to a year and a half ahead. Now I think it is looking from 3 to 5 years ahead. At least with many of the internet stocks this is true. People have seen incredible growth in the tech sector over the last 5 years and are realizing, with the advent of the net, that it will continue. With this longer view people are willing to pay more.
