This Rene Madsen thought he is smarter than the rest of the IT professionals. Data showed that NT outperform UNIX in market . Are those IT professionals dumb ?
I like to hear opinions from the other side , but I do not like to hear stupid comments, or opinions without solid data to back it up !!

That Word and Excel should be "great examples of products that started off in second or third place in their spaces and ended up first, because they were better" is one of the biggest deceptions of all time. Word and Excel ONLY exist today because of the predatory sales technique applied - admittedly very skilfully.

Not long ago the products of the day were Word Perfect and Lotus 1-2-3. MS, backed by billions of dollars made on the OS, virtually gave away Word and Excel cutting into Word Perfect and Lotus bread and butter and quickly strangled them out of the market.

To say that Word and Excel is better today is no lie - however if alternative products had had the same time to progress I'm certain we would have had FAR better products - and a choice.

To say MS is an innovator just shows your ignorance. They rarely invent anything, rather they see what others are doing, make a public statement that they are "almost ready to release a beta version of their own version" of it, while they still discuss how they should get started on the project.
