Will,

I have not had many problems with Ameritrade, but then I don't trade much in that account. Once they overcharged me on the commission, but corrected it as soon as I pointed out the mistake.

Most of my trading is done in cash accounts with Waterhouse and Brown & Company. I like Waterhouse because they provide a lot of cash management services that allow them to serve as our virtual bank. (We have no local bank in fact.) I like Brown because of the low margin rates, low commissions, and the fact that I can call them from work and enter an order with a live broker for the same $10 commission. I have not noticed an on-line option to enter spreads and straddles with either of them.

Good Luck in your selection
