Many have spoken about "making" gold like this for a great many years, & most believe it would be possible, only rub is the cost. Last estimate I heard(around 7 months ago) was $9800-12900 oz after production situation is in place. Mining will be cheaper for a long while.
The reason it makes sense w/ plutonium, simply can't get rid of it, no matter the cost. well, maybe shoot it into the sun...

Funny you should say that. Lead is up $8 a tonne on LME
