Might be sell programs that kicked in on a stop loss basis? Big institutions run their holdings with computers. Computers sell. Individual investors, click, click, click up the bargains. ?? Just a thought?

On Squawk Box yesterday morning, the S&P futures, March contract, and the NAZ100 futures were lock limit down. On the thinly traded Globex session, traders sold off the futures and since it is thinly traded, big moves are exaggerated. At open, the S&P cash sold off initially and then turned.
