Finally, some good news

quote.bloomberg.com

The site doesn't let you copy the text so I will re-type the good info:

Regarding production problems - "'We've got the problem behind us now, ' AMD Chief Executive Officer Jerry Sanders said on a conference call with analysts."

"The Sunnyvale, California-based company expects to ship another 5.5 million processors this quarter, a time when sales are usually are weaker because the holiday buying season is over."

Intel said Q1 was going to be less than Q4.

"AMD said it expects gross profit margin, the percentage of sales left over after costs of production are subtracted, to be in the mid- to low 40s in 1999, wider than the 32.4 percent in 1998."

Couple those margins along with 1999 capital spending at $900 Million Vs $1 Billion In 1998 and things begin to look better.

Naturally, the article also has analysts talking about being burned again.

Yousef - Re: "Sounds like Intel's stock should be about 100X that of AMD's"

Either Intel is going to $2700 or AMD is headed to $1.39 !
