I caught half the MLNM presentation (traffic hung me up and made me late), but sat in on the breakout. They predict breakeven for '99 give or take a bit. Looking for more acquisitions. They plan to have their "diagnomic" product out this year from the Predictive Med Subsidary that will be able to tell you whether your melanoma will metastasize or not.

In general, I liked Levin, although his talk ran pretty long, which isn't tolerated too well at H&Q.

They really delved into how they are building a culture at MLNM to bring in and keep the best and it sounded great. They are putting in a lot on training people and have a whole bunch of inhouse college/business classes for their people. They solicit lots of feedback from staff, etc. These sound like people who know how to run and build a big business and not just give it lip service. If they just weren't located on the wrong coast I'd consider working for them (even though they don't fit my startup company profile).

MLNM seems to have that integrated company model though and are really moving towards not just being a gene discovery company, but a drug discovery company, with clinical expertise, etc....

I definitely see them as a buy and hold long, long, long, like stick it in the retirement account type of stock.
