A tax question:

I understand long-term and short-term holdings, and that they're taxed accordingly, but recently someone told me that they believe buying and selling a stock in the same day falls under a 'new?' law that subjects that sale to a higher tax. Is there any truth to this? Is there any tax law that affects a buy/sell on the same day, or in the same week?

Thanks to all.
