Mark -

Assuming avg platter/heads per DD didn't change much you can roughly figure out how many they bought from the outside.(Well, this won't be absolutely accurate, but it will give you an idea)

17% increase in units.
External head supply approx same(86%SepQ, 86%DecQ)
External media supply down(81%SepQ, 84%DecQ).

Twiddle the #s and you get:
External heads bought +17%QTQ.
External media bought -2%QTQ.

So, obviously RDRT volume to SEG is up. But media supply won't be a winner. On that note, who else supplies SEG besides KMAG? And KMAGs #s don't add up to be much...(<1mil/Q)

Evening Mark,

<Question is are the others who have yet to report also going to blow away the numbers or has Seagate as you suggested taken market share?>>

I think they will all show improvement. It is really a shame that we can't get reports from Fujitsu as they increase their force in the market. Now we have Maxtor reports to dissect. But IBM still gets to hide behind the divisional curtain. I think the notion that WDC may bleed less and therefore they are worth a triple is near as absurd as this market has seen except for maybe some of the internuts. There is obviously a lot of upside anticipation obviously, even with them. I read the WDC thread and simply get sick. I keep wondering when reality will set in. Is anyone else here going to short WD?

<<When Seagate does well, is their a supplier who also wins big?>>

Not so as you would notice, they are a vertical integrator right? But digging a little deeper both Zygo and Veco are key equipment suppliers who have seen increased orders IMO. I guess it was good news for Innovex also as they said they will get at least two more product iterations out of their FOS. (I still say wireless is the way to go).

Best,
Stitch
