Powertel Selects TTI Telecom to Install a Network Surveillance System
PETAH TIKVA, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan 20, 1999--TTI Team Telecom (NASDAQ: TTILF - news; ''TTI'') announced today that it has been awarded a contract by Powertel, Inc., a leading wireless Personal Communications Service (PCS) provider serving the Southeastern United States, to provide a Netrac SS7 Network Surveillance System. Installation will be completed by the end of the second quarter 1999.

Powertel will utilize the Netrac SS7 Network Management System to detect network irregularities and performance problems before they become service affecting, thus ensuring a high quality network to its PCS/GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) subscribers. GSM is considered to be the most highly advanced wireless communication standard today. The acceptance of GSM as a worldwide standard will enable global roaming using one single handset.

Avner Rietti, Manager of OSS & Network Performance for Powertel said, ''We chose the TTI management solution after investigating the leading competitive solutions. We believe that the SS7 surveillance solution developed by TTI will provide us with the ability to monitor our network and react much more quickly and effectively to any network problems that we may experience. Our analysis shows that the TTI NWV-7 SS7 monitoring system is designed optimally and will provide Powertel with all the required functionality.''

Frank Bassano, Director of Corporate Operations for Powertel stated, ''TTI Telecom's NWV-7 will enable Powertel to quickly identify network problems and substantially improve the quality of service we provide to our customers.''

TTI Telecom's NWV-7 module is part of the Netrac suite of management applications. It provides a comprehensive, centralized SS7 management system that offers real near time fault, performance and configuration management for both landline and wireless telecommunications networks.

The SS7 Network Management system is a highly advanced system that utilizes data derived directly from the signaling links in real time to provide network operators with the tools to reach maximum network optimization, streamline complex routing procedures and reduce traffic flow congestion. Cost reduction applications such as fraud detection and call tracing make the NWV-7 management system a potent tool that provides a rapid return on investment.

Meir Lipshes, TTI Telecom's Chief Executive Officer stated, ''This contract marks TTI Telecom's entry into the PCS/GSM market in North America, a market we expect to grow substantially. It also paves the way for us to secure orders with wireless telecommunications services that utilize GSM technology, especially in Europe and South Africa. We welcome Powertel as our first customer in 1999 and look forward to working with them and broadening our relationship over time.''
