Daniel:

You are right; there is a need for a firewall. The $90 includes $60 for the splitter and the ADSL box from ALA as well as $30 for ISP ($26 for Pac Bell Internet -Pac Bell normally only charges $19.95 for regular ISP; they want more for ADSL- and $4 to IBM for backbone services). Nobody else in my area (and I really tried) were set up to give me a dedicated IP address and take ADSL data rates to act as my ISP provider. From the press release it appears that my $60 rate is reduced to $39.95 and now it is only $10 for using Pac Bell as my ISP.
