Robert,

I believe that everyone is tired of the topic, however the greater the differentiation in drives (TV's vs. VCR's vs DVD's vs. the generation of consumer products), the greater the likelihood that there will be a screw up in the vertical manufacturing model (or if they have a failure). This in turn could screw up any perceived advantge.

Scott.

<<I'm kind of surprised that no one has commented on SEG's assertion that they will have an advantage in producing drives for consumer products (TVs, VCRs, DVDs with HDDs inside) because of their vertical integration. Or has the thread grown tired of this topic?>>
I'd more interested in hearing when we can get a piece of FCs new venture. I'd bet my cheap DD money on that before SEG anyday. He beat 'em once, and he's going to do it again. Starting from scratch with a new biz model is a wonderfully powerful tool.
