Les,

Good point. I was aghast that Tom Daschle
(D-ND) would claim to have enough votes to
prevent conviction. He took an oath when
he was sat as a juror to be impartial, and
to examine the facts (which have not even
been presented yet) in the case and judge
the case on its merit. Basically, he has
indicated that his oath was a lie. Any judge
would remove this guy...too bad the Chief
Justice will not knock him off the jury pool.

A Jury Not of Peers but of Kin, Foe and Talking Head nytimes.com

Been there, done that, Les, see Message 7260487. Cuts both ways. Precisely how many Republican Senators are going into this with an open mind? Exactly how many Senators would be left if you removed everybody that didn't have some bias going in? When I was promoting my modest proposal before the Nov. election, that candidates be upfront about where they stand on the issue, my fallback position, given the "unknowability" of how anyone might vote, was that in lieu of an honest statement, assume party affiliation as a fallback indicator. Party affiliation was a pretty good indicator in the House, and it will probably be a good indicator in the Senate too. Appropriately, when it's all politics, although it's unusual for Democrats to maintain very much party discipline.

Glad to see you referring to the favored "objective" press source around here, though. Maybe local hero Drudge has been leaked something on the matter too.

Les, do you happen to know what the laws are for selling illegal knock-offs of US brand name goods? E-bay is full of fake designer stuff people are passing off as the real thing.
