Scumbria,
RE:"I was sitting and thinking this morning about the state of the
x86 world, and here is what I came up with ......

1. The K6 family is not going over 400 MHz in volume anytime
soon.
2. PIII will hit 500MHz+ next month.

Adding 1+2 together, this means that K6(2/3) ASP's will be low,
and will not produce increased revenues.

Therefore, future revenue growth is completely dependent on
K7.
So, until some K7 info is available ..... I'm out."...

-----

You should have reasoned that out yesterday.
ASPs should rise, however, now that the mask problem is fixed, allowing good 450MHz yield. K6-3 will help ASPs as well, so I wouldn't
say all is dependent on the K7.

You did it AGAIN Scumbria !

You bought back in at about $29+ and sold out at probably $23+.

That is the 3rd AMD in-and-out at a loss for you in just a month or two !

By the way - your reasoning is sound !

Paul

Scumbria, those of us who were smart enough to buy on the October dip after earnings are still sitting on substantial profits.
PIII will hit 500MHz+ next month
March 1, according to Mr. Engel, so AMD just one speed bin behind for the entire quarter. AMD was two speed bins behind Intel for half of Q4.

The reaction today is overdone. On 11/10/98, the First Call estimate was TEN CENTS and some were questioning whether there would even be a profit. The stock price was 26 1/2 on 11/10. This is a good time to pick up some more AMD. I sold my January calls for a profit today and reinvested in Aprils.
