it would be fair to say that AWRE modems in the CPQ presario would be worthless to date unless the telco provider "speaks" to the AWRE modem, or until some ITU full standardization process comes to full turn. AWRE does get sales out if though. It doesn't make clear sense for CPQ to offer AWRE modems carte blanche, especially if your service provider is GTE which "speaks" to ORCTF modems. Dell's model of ADSL modem offering, I believe is superior.

No I was only asking about that one written piece, but thanks for the extra stuff. AWRE doesn't represent much of a threat to Orckit on the hardware side since they don't do hardware any longer and are now focused only on IP. It may be worth my pointing out the fact that ECI is an AWRE licensee and markets their IP.

I'm not attempting to take a side against Orckit or you...only sharing info. and opinion. I'd think these deals between BA, AOL, GTE, Orckit and others have some flexibility built in for change...which is the nature of the beast they all deal with day in and day out. It is very likely that AWRE will make money on many of the products sold by Orckit...should Aware's patent claims hold up.

Regards,

Scrapps

[Correction]

BEL modems are provided by WSTL, not AWRE. Look at archived news clips. BEL is not even deploying DMT right now. They are using CAP currently.
