OFF TOPIC

I called my cable company, and they don't offer it, but said to call the phone company. I did, and they suggested isdn service.

For which you need to buy an isdn digital modem ($150. to $350. they estimate), plus its installation unless you're competent to do it yourself, plus $22./month to the phone company (additional to your current phone bill, mine being $200.- $300. /mo), plus a penny a minute during the time you're connected.

This seems steep to me, not the upfront charges, but the penny-a-minute, but what do I know? Is that about what you pay? Is this more than one pays if one's cable service provider offers it?

I do hate the idea of a meter running when i'm in front of the computer. The local cable company did say they'll get this service at some point. What do you think?
