Re: "AMD's roadmap certainly does look good for 99. "

Xy, isn't it apparent by now that AMD's roadmap is not a good predictor of AMD's performance? Customers don't by roadmaps.

Re: "Manufacturing continues to be a problem for AMD. They continue to have poor bin splits. "

Do they really have a manufacturing problem or are they just aiming too high? Does Intel have a manufacturing problem because they have poor binsplit at 500mhz? I think a better perspective would be that AMD has very good process technology and a very good manufacturing capability. They are just trying to compete with someone in another league. AMD refuses to view their capabilities in a realistic light. They could have been THE PLD supplier. They could excel in Flash. They had very good products in networking and communications. Their microcontroller products were among the leaders. Instead of focusing on what they were good at, they made a choice to put their resources into doing battle with Intel not into expanding their successful product lines. They "bet the farm" on going up against Intel. Was this a wise decision? Was this in the shareholders best interests or was it a vengeful act by the chauffer driven CEO who's only concern was getting even with Intel at any cost? Shareholders I think ultimately have the blame for letting this idiot piss away a good but not great company.
