- From the Jan '99 edition of the Prudent Speculator - the #1 rated newsletter by Forbes a couple of years ago...

- Stock of the Month
Allou Health & Beauty (ALU)

- and then it goes on & on...

Before our sanity is questioned in recommending a high-flying internet stock, we note that FC is not publicly traded, YET! The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of January's Stock of the Month, Allou Health & Beauty (ALU - $11.38), a heretofore low-flying and little known national distributor of some 22,000 nationally-advertised health and beauty aid products, pharmaceuticals, fragrances and cosmetics. An initial public offering of FC is likely in the near-future, especially after Allou CEO Herman Jacobs just agreed to convert a $3 million loan into an equity interest in the online venture. While an IPO of FC could be a wonderful windfall for Allou and its shareholders, we are still able to buy ALU for an inexpensive price, considering that, excluding FC, the company is expected to earn about $.80 a share in fiscal '99 (ends 3/99) from its traditional businesses and book value is now $9.25 a share.
