Thanks for the warning. I have more than $2000, that was just my example. I can lose the entire amount that I would margin, though I would cry.

As for understanding the ways of the market? I know enough about me, my time and the market to know not to short term trade. I know enough to feel comfortable picking my own long term investments. The attraction of the $170 is based on a balance of the risks and rewards not just the low price.

I just read an article on MSN's Money central that states a long term margin strategy where you are never margined above 20% of your entire portfolio. This seems reasonable to me. What do you think?
