Chief,

A halt means all trading ceases. Period. The trading halt trigger was adopted after the 1987 crash, and adjusted last year.

Apparently the 50 point trading curb rule has been recently modified:

Made the worst trade of my life today.

Bought LWN at $9.1 on a fake breakout off the bottom. I made the mistake of using my Etrade account which doesn't have stops. Up to now I have done big trades using Webbroker with tight stops. When it fell to $8.9 and $8.6 I tried to sell but it took Etrade 5 minutes for my bid to hit the boards and it had already gone through the prices. I was getting so frustrated that I couldn't get rid of it so I made a further mistake by holding overnight. Closed at $7.8. Now news just came out after trading that 16 of the companies funeral homes were suspended. This may just be the ending of my trading for a while

Best Regards
KEITH
