ENERGY TRUSTS / Westrock II Ties In 8 Million Cubic Feet Per Day Gas Well

CALGARY, Jan. 14 /CNW/ - Westrock Energy Income Fund II is pleased to
announce the tie-in of a successful natural gas well in the Knopcik area of
British Columbia. The well, in which Westrock II has a 35.7% working
interest, tested at absolute open flow rates of 14 MMcf/day of natural gas
from the Kistkatinaw zone.

Equipped and placed on production December 12, 1998, the well is
currently producing natural gas at a rate of 8 MMcf/day gross (2.8 MMcf/day
net) with associated liquids production of 100 bbls/day gross, 36 bbls/day net
to the Fund. All natural gas production from this well is sold on the Alberta
spot market. The well now flows through a 15 kilometre gathering system and
is processed at the Hythe-Brainard gas plant located in northwestern Alberta.

Westrock II has a 100% working interest, before payout, in a second well
in this area and is now in negotiations with the operator to tie in this
additional well to the gathering system prior to the end of the first quarter.
The second well has two potential gas zones in the Cadomin and Doig formations
that will be production tested in the coming weeks. It is estimated that this
well will be capable of producing approximately 3 MMcf/day.

The Fund anticipates that these new wells will provide approximately a
net 450 BOE/day of new natural gas and liquids production.
