Keylabs Signs "NATC" Testing Agreement With Novell

PROVO, UTAH (Jan. 14) BUSINESS WIRE -Jan. 14, 1999--KeyLabs(TM) Inc. Thursday announced the signing of an NATC testing agreement with Novell(R) Inc.

Although KeyLabs has tested products for the Novell YES, Tested and Approved(TM) program since 1996, this new agreement between Novell and KeyLabs makes KeyLabs an official Novell Authorized Testing Center (NATC), and expands KeyLabs' competitive advantage in the certification industry.

"Signing this NATC agreement with Novell means a better deal for companies developing products on Novell's network operating system," stated Pete Nelson, KeyLabs program manager. "The long process of testing a product and getting results approved for certification is eliminated for developers because KeyLabs efficiently handles it all from start to finish.

"KeyLabs can have a product passing YES compatibility testing in a matter of days, and because the developer's product is already set up for YES compatibility testing in the lab, can offer developers great deals on other custom testing and certification."

KeyLabs isn't new to certification testing by any means. Already the sole facility for Sun's 100% Pure Java certification, this agreement with Novell ensures that KeyLabs can test and certify on Novell's network operating system any product from NLM-based software applications to LAN drivers and storage devices.

This agreement also places KeyLabs at the top of the list of testing companies when it comes to offering YES compatibility testing. Novell no longer offers specific product testing, and because most other testing labs offer certification for only two or three product types, KeyLabs now offers a wider range of YES compatibility testing than any of its competitors.

Experience makes KeyLabs a perfect choice for the NATC program. "The Yes logo is a powerful marketing tool for our developers' products," said Carleton Watkins, director of DeveloperNet labs at Novell.

"Earning Yes approval shows true dedication to providing customers with the best products possible. We are happy to have KeyLabs as a Novell Authorized Testing Center because their expertise in quick and efficient testing will make it easier for developers to become Novell Yes, Tested and Approved."

Customer service is another reason KeyLabs is a perfect choice for the NATC program. To ensure that KeyLabs "tests your products, not your patience," KeyLabs is developing an innovative online customer service program.

The Web-ready system allows customers to easily review prices, register products for testing, request quotes, and pay for certification. It even lets the customer make confidential 24-hour checks on the status of their product's testing.

KeyLabs offers considerable testing and certification experience, innovative customer service, and now, according to JD Brisk, "More YES than all the rest combined!"

If you followed Novell for awhile

You would be amazed that any analysts bothered for what seemed like forever. Novell didn't even have a Kurlak. It was ignored. It got the brush off from analysts. No one wanted to "make their name" on predicting Novell earnings. One analyst who tried for two quarters kept predicting outstanding earnings and fell so flat that it was an embarrassment. Nobody likes to be embarrassed in the limelight.

My point with Dube was that this is the time for an analyst to emerge from the pack with stellar predictions. In the past there wasn't anything the analysts knew from their contacts with Novell that we didn't know better right here. Now admittedly this thread has deteriorated. But up until now analysts were useless with Novell. They didn't have any inside information of any value.

What is different now is that everything rides on one figure --- Netware sales. For that a well connected analyst can be useful.
