MANC and what a mistake that was not reporting back to you.. I was looking for the earnings report date yesterday but could not get hold of the compnay...(516) 435-1199 here is the number all I got was an answering machine at investor relations and no subsequent call back. Had I gotten the earnings report date yesterday, MANC would have been on today's watch list, so yes I did look and I thought it was a veritable volcano of a stock about to burst.. That's why I say to readers to e-mail me even if I can't get to it quickly, there are lots of 'gems' out there among the posters and I wish I had the time in the day to check each and every one out.

The DD's were excellent on Monday/Tuesday.. We had some good picks for Wednesday/Thursday, but I think we have to go back to quality. If you all notice check out the introductory post to the Market Gems Thread I had it changed to reflect the changing picks and the long range results of the earnings plays.

Of course we will not be giving up our 'fun' internet and momentum trades... We are no longer a 'daytraders' site..not that we really ever have been. Since the earnings plays have been so successful as position/short term holds I've decided to amend us to what we have been for the past 10 months - a site for the short term/position and intermediate traders.. The picks on both SI and the Market Gems Website for subscribers will always have 2 or 3 hi-flyers for momentum traders but we need a 'flight to quality' good earners for intermediate/short term trader

Unless you have the time to sit in front of the screen all day you will be better off with stocks like COGIF,TXCC,ANET,MXTR than stocks like EBAY, no matter how much it rises.. If on the other hand you are a seasoned day trader, then by all means get in on the action of the internets... but don't bet more than you can afford to lose. If the internets look to me to 'want to' correct another 50% or so I'll get onto puts tomorro, but otherwise I'll wait it out.. remember they were up 500% since September so how significant is another 50%? It can be very significant if you got in late and just suffered the 50% loss..

For my part, I'll be concentrating on the stocks that were good to me this week, during the time everyone was fleeing the internets.. More work and research on the earnings plays and following my second tier internet stocks through their earnings season.

Please do not rush into stocks because threads are touting them at the moment.. do your own due diligence, you won't be sorry. If the stock is up 9 today chances are it will be down 5 tomorrow.. TAKE THE PROFITS in the earnings plays, GCTI was good for 5 points before it started to retreat. Remember you should look at a trade in percentage points gained and not number of days held or how many points.. If a stock like NDB, NITE or GNET gives you 10 points plus there is really no logical reason to hold especially in the midst of a downtrend in the rest of the sector like today's action with GNET.. I held GNET last week but would not dare to hold it today.

None of you should have lost any money in the internets.. they gave so many warning signs.. If I hadn't been 'tempted' by ELNK.. I would have gone through the entire last 2 weeks with just an enormous gain in that sector, but I had not gotten in quickly enough so I had no profit to walk away with. If anything I sold a bit too quickly, but was soon smug that I did so..
