I wonder how effective the ATT attack will be unless it can produce a system that's as efficient for both voice and data as CDMA. The local GSM in my area has nothing that can compete with the Sprint PCS service and is merely countering with free incoming calls. What will happen when the pdQ comes to market and becomes popular and well known by the publicity it is already receiving? What will the GSMs say to their customers who want a similar device? I guess it's time for the GSMs to put up or shut up.

To George Gilder: Thank you. I very much appreciate your taking the time to answer my question re AT&T. I was just not sure what your reference in passing on the Qualcomm thread to AT&T as more of a prob for the Q than the Scandinavians. You have now answered that clearly and completely IMO. And I will help out by posting your answer here on the Q thread.

Would you also be kind enough to fill us in on your understanding where software radios stand and the prospects for when they may be a factor in commercial communications? Seems like that is a key to your alleged position on frequency (mis)management.

Thanks again. And respect. Chaz

If your using Win98 you can right click in a blank spot on your task bar on the bottom. You will then see you can tile windows horizontally or vertically. You then will be able to have two threads open at on time. Assuming you have written your post in a word processor which is now minimized on the bottom task bar you can maximize it and copy the post and then minimize it and paste it into both threads. Simply click your mouse in the window and then go up and click on the edit feature and then paste. Do the same in the other window or thread.

could you point us to examples of this on the web? thanks

Mr. Gilder,

Could you offer a line or two comparing the proposed Intel "One-chip" vs. NSM's Jalepeno? If they both emerged at once, how might they fare?
