I like the puts on "boring" stocks too. I'm not sure how some of these so-called defensive stocks can trade at 30+ p/e with little growth, and, like you say, the premiums are almost reasonable. I have HNZ & RAL LEAPS. Had some HSY but took my profits a bit too soon. Missed CPB. Look at KR, KO, G, PG, CL, CLX, etc. None of these are as obvious as internuts but you don't have to put up half the price of the stock to play. But don't buy near expirations; LEAPS are not that much more expensive, and cheaper on a per-month basis.

Space, some of us are short and sweating a bit too, it is nor clear where the market is headed yet. It may only be coincidence, but again the market is headed down as the Clinton trial unfolds. If this is a factor, it wil get worse as the prosecution presses its case, then rally when the defense starts. I guess this theory would have it hit bottom early next week.
