Okay Mark...one last time.

I love the Mac. It's my livelihood. I use it 10 hours a day. Nuff said about the Mac as a piece of hardware.

This thread is one of many that make up Silicon INVESTOR.

My point? While the machine is great, the investment is questionable. Isn't that what this site is all about? Prove it to yourself: measure the appreciation of this box maker against DELL. My shares of Dell (factoring in this nasty downturn of some 3 days) is up 36% in the past three months. How much has Apple stock appreciated during that same period.

That's the same kind of rationale that the Street uses to arrive at value. Its called growth and look at a Dell chart – 1 year, 2 year or whatever and you'll see that line continue to go in a northerly direction. What do you see when you apply the same to Apple.

I love the machine. I've almost had one of every flavor, professionally speaking, since the Mac Plus. I just don't think the stock has the kind of legs that a lot of people on this thread talk about.

TTFN & Good Investing!

<<Why should you invest in Apple? Go use one.>>

TRUE STORY - Happened today

Funny you should say that. My company just absorbed another ad agency and we rolled out x number of PCs for the agency and x number of Macs for their Art Directors.

I made a mistake and accidentally rolloed out a new G3 to the head art director. He complained and insisted that I get him a PC.

I apologized for the mistake and assigned one of my techs to start configuration of a PC with the appropriate Art Director software (Quark, PhotoShop, Illustrator, etc).

A day later, the tech goes up there with the new PC and comes back with the PC in hand. Says the Art Director has had a day to play with the Mac and likes it. He won't give it up.

Now I gotta talk to our finance guy to get the money to buy another G3 for the person who was not rolled out. Luckily, she is on maternity leave and won't miss it yet.
