Thread, Reuters article: _____ Rambus sees revenues flat for next few quarters MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan 14 (Reuters) - Rambus Inc., a computer memory chip design company, on Thursday reported higher operating earnings for its fiscal first quarter, but said earnings in the next two to three quarters were likely to be no better than even with the latest results. Mountain View, Calif.-Rambus RMBS.O said its operating income for its first quarter ended Dec. 31 rose to $2.4 million from $2.1 million a year earlier, and earnings per share rose to 8 cents from 6 cents on a diluted basis. Revenues rose 13 percent to $10.6 million from $9.7 million. The company warned that earnings in the next two or three quarters were likely "to be no better than flat compared to first quarter results." It said this was due to an expected seasonal decline in royalties from shipments of Rambus integrated circuits for use in Nintendo 64 video games as well as the discontinuation of development on Rambus-based controllers for PC multimedia applications by Cirrus Logic and Chromatic Research. Rambus, which develops and licenses high-speed chip-to-chip interface technology, also said it it would incur additional expenses over the next few quarters for an anticipated move into the PC main memory market later this year.
