Navarre hires NetRadio CEO

Music distributor Navarre (NAVR) has hired a new chief executive for its NetRadio unit. The company didn't have to go far to find the successful candidate, tapping NetRadio's chief financial officer for the CEO spot. Eric Paulson, Navarre's chief executive and the former NetRadio CEO, will remain chairman of the unit, which is expected to file for an IPO this quarter.

Before he joined NetRadio, the new CEO, Edward Tomechko, worked for the retailer County Seat Stores, which filed for bankruptcy in 1996 and failed in an attempt to go public again last year.

NetRadio operates two Web sites, one that streams music in a radio-station format and one that sells CDs.

Navarre's stock was up 11 percent to 16 15/16 on the news.

Tony, glad to see you here... remember you from the MALL thread way back when (Novemeber hehe)

Although I think you were short there no? :) But you did have reasonable rational thoughts which anyone appreciates.

I agree with your assessment on NAVR. It ran to 27 last time on hype with no substance (but hey I profited greatly from the hype so Im the last to complain), and this time it looks like the groundwork is in place so I think even the $35 is bit conservative. Now in between 17 and 35 there could be 10 swings both up and down because of the nice lil float, but hey that's half the fun.

Mark

Tony, this on will differ from DBCC and MALL as NAVR has a low float (6mil) and high short interest (2.0mil as of 12/? 8th I think). these technicals will favor an earlier run up with the possibility of spikes from the short covers and panic buying. I'm looking forward to seeing Jan's short interest that should be out around the 20th/21st.
