I still can't figure out why Barrick didn't originally make a bid for all shares at, say, $5.50-$6.00, instead of the $4 offer below market which obviously no one signed up for. If they had bid above market, I think their odds would have been considerably better. Now, they probably will have to bid considerably higher and, imho, against competition. When Barrick first bid $4 we didn't have the drill results we have now, so a low bid looked better then than it does now.
