New! 200MB Floppy Disks

Just received my new PCMall catalog advertising New! 200MB floppy disks manufactured by SONY and FUJIFILM. The verbage that caught my eye was contained in a full page ad by Fuji...

Break Free With HiFD

Every day you are confined. Confined by too little disk space. Confined by too slow storage media. Confined by the complications of multiple drives and the avalanche of new media type upon new media type. What do you do in the face of such limitation? Break free! Fujifilm HiFD 200MB floppy disks break all of these boundaries. Store 100,000 pages of text to a single disk. Play full-motion video, thanks to a speedy transfer rate. And, rest easier knowing that HiFD drives read and write to your current library of standard 3.5' disks. It's just another example of how our proprietary ATOMM Dual Coating Technology is revolutionizing data storage. When will you break free?

HiFD 200MB floppy disks - 2pk $27.99

I was unable to locate any new floppy drive manufactured by either SONY or Fuji. Is ATOMM Dual Coating Technology another name for KM?

Here is the technical info from pcmall.com

<<HiFD media incorporates several advanced features that contribute to the format's high capacity and reliability. These include a super-thin, dual-layer, metal-coated recording medium for higher magnetic energy; and a pre-recorded servo tracking signal for precise read and write capabilities. In addition, the unique T-shutter design
reduces the amount of dust and debris that enters the disk casting. Likewise, HiFD media is designed so that the drive can immediately recognize which type of disk has been inserted and allows the drive to switch to the corresponding operation mode. Also, a V-lock mechanism ensures that a HIFD disk cannot be mistakenly inserted into a conventional floppy drive.>>

Regards,

Tom

Samsung non-holdings. It was just a guess. I was aware of the other factors you mention, and agree with your analysis of their effect. May I ask, without any rudeness being implied, what the best of your knowledge is based on (re: the Samsung holdings). Is there a way to know under 5%? or do you have special knowledge of Samsung?
