I tend to agree with the alternate route scenario. Whenever there is change, there are those who resist it. If you were a mm and your livelihood was affected, what would you do?

In the FX markets, electronic execution platforms (Reuters & EBS)
have forever changed the landscape for fx brokers, essentially taking away the majority of their business. It didn't happen overnight and there was alot of resistance, but in the end liquidity won over turfism and other nonsense.

Don't think it is the discount firms they are after - they are blaming all the volatity and huge volumes on the daytraders.

Seems whatever is wrong with the market is the daytraders fault and you can believe that when the next big downturn comes, they will get the blame.
