EAI hotshot Software Technologies Corp claims it had a hand in the
creation of rivals New Era of Networks Inc and Crossworlds Software
Inc. CEO Jim Demetriades recently told messageq.com. "In 1994 Neon
was in the hospital software industry designing clinical information
systems. They were venture backed by, amongst others, Venrock and I
believe Terry Garnett, a partner at Venrock, was on their board. Rick
Adams, the CEO of Neon came out to visit us in our offices to see why
we were doing so well. We already had over 300 customers. He saw
that hospitals, which were cash-constrained, needed this technology to
integrate all the best-of-class applications that they had purchased. He
realized that the banking industry needed a similar solution and changed
Neon into a banking software company doing integration of applications.
Then, his board member Terry Garnett saw that the ERP space needed
similar technology and he and his wife started Crossroads/Crosssworlds."
STC's success has already attracted imitators. Other healthcare ISVs
crossing into other verticals include Georgia company Healthdyne
Information Enterprises .
