My cable company provides static IP at present. A cable modem is just like an external dialup modem. Except the serial connection is eithernet
and the phone connection is the cable. Cable is always on. I can telnet, ftp, etc, from the internet to my computer.

I get three email and a regular dialup isp as backup.

Cost with cable modem rental is about 41 per month.

My package is 256k download and 64k upload. It's a quick.
