They did not know these fancy manipulations then what the governments use nowadays.Ah, we have modern times and we have fast printing machines, economist, lawyers and lying politicians to enslave the masses the painless way to pay for the moon shots, space programs and other like things which do the average person no good today.

Ali, Have you ever flown on an airliner?? Do you realize that the majority of R&D was performed either by the government, or under government contract, through its strategic bomber program dating from the '30's This technology was then converted to domestic uses.

Much of the optics and computer industries were fostered by those thieving gov't contracts.

Simply put, sometimes the gov't has to do what is not profitable for the private sector to do. When there is private market failure, the public sector steps in, but only after the private sector has been given a proper chance to resolve the "problem", whatever that problem may be.

It is apparent that you are not a fan of gov't bureaucracy, but as Churchill stated it, "democracy is the worst form of gov't.... except for every other kind".

And you also seem to have an alternative view of how "honest and righteous" gov't have been throughout history. I actually think we're doing pretty well in comparison to some of the shenanigans that have taken place in our history.

And T-bills are a safe haven until that safe haven deemed no longer safe, then people run to gold, food, oil, as well as to the hills.

Some people complain about this country, but I'll wager you'll still find yourself getting a better "shake" here than many other so-called "enlightened" societies. Europe is definitely in the grip of socialists who, in exchange for your loyalty, will provide your very lucrative unemployment benefits for not working or looking for a job.

Regards,

Ron
