Valueman, you should ask DIRECTV what they thought the FCC meant, since they were effectively prohibited from bidding for the 110 slot on the basis of that pronouncement. I don't believe that the FCC ever made a statement that it was only for the auction. I believe that they made the statement because the auction raised the issue for the first time.

Quite frankly, I don't know how they would dance around that particular issue should they decide they would like DISH to have both slots. Expect DIRECTV to fight to the death over it, and Primestar too, since as I said in my earlier post they are the logical ones to use the 119 freqs.

Again, I am not saying that there isn't a chance DISH might get to keep 119, since Charlie clearly an anti-cable solution, something the government has been wanting for years. But I think it will be difficult for the FCC to explain to GM how it reversed its field to DISH's benefit when its earlier stance had a clear impact on DIRECTV.
