Analysts are rarely used by any buy side managers for their opinions. Overall, analysts' opinion for any stock shows absolutely no correlation to stock performance. Rather, most people on the buy side use analysts either 1) as a proxy for what the Street thinks, 2) as a data source for an earnings model, or 3)(in the case of shorter term traders,) as a way to get an edge in the information process.

There are a very few analysts whose opinion I do listen to (although not necessarily follow)--and yes, Mr. Kurlak is one of them. Whatever his knowledge base, he outperforms the market with his Intel opinions, and that is at least worth paying attention to.
