Market Outlook

Looks like I'll have some time to read and study a bit, while things shake out.

Futures are up again (it's early) but Europe is down a bit.
Might be another day to be careful about going long too early
Might be another day to short the open on gap ups
Would not be surprised to see a rally in the afternoon

I'm going to be looking at stocks to short that look to easily
succumb to selling pressure because of profit taking after tremendous gains. As you probably know, I put EGRP towards the top of this list. I think it has quite a ways left to fall.

A reminder to a previous post by Scott. Friday gaps should be measured a bit earlier - like 10:00 or so, as the market will be moving a bit more quickly. This may be especially important on the short side if the market opens up and sells off.

I sense too that whatever happens today, there will be a lower open on Tuesday. My instincts tell me that holding short over a three day weekend would be profitable. But my trading comfort barometer will most likely keep me from doing that.

Good luck to all today, and be very careful out there, as I expect it to be very choppy.

David

MRVT, Please add this to my watch list. They are a competitor for the Macular degeneration market with QLTIF. QLTIF has shown great strength and is up abut 150% form the last week of Dec.98.
I think that we may see a similar run with MRVT. Technically it has broken 50 day moving avg. of 14.05 on 2x 50 day volume. For a true break out I suppose buying with a stop at 18 is better.
I am taking a position long MRVT today.
good luck to all.
