You're probably right. Though I anticipate with some amusement Terrence's reaction to your "more a businessman" line.

Even if he only did the bulb, that would still be a great deal. Though if he hadn't thought of it, somebody else would have in fairly short order. When accumulated knowledge reaches a certain point, most inventions are inevitable.

I remember reading about the AC/DC debate in The Farmers Almanac. Seems like Edison toured the country electrocuting dogs and cats to show the danger of AC current. Used an orangutan once but the silky fur caught fire. He pushed for the conviction of William Wemmler, a retarded person who killed a woman with an ax, and his death by electrocution. They were short on amps and wound up spending a couple of minutes cooking the poor guy to death.
