Bruce:

I agree with you. Starting Bid would be $1.5 billion for Spectrum. Spectrum beats Bay's Optivity, 3Com's Transcend, HP Open View hands-down. It is a great tool and its popularity is rising. I am holding 2500 shares of CS and inside info says we will see CS at $18 within 12 months or sooner. CB has agreed for selling his holdings. If the sale doesn't happen this year, it is all over for CS.

I tend to agree that the $1 billion dollar number may be on the low side, in this marketplace. Anything related to network management or network security commands a pretty huge multiple on REV these days.
Although certainly not an apples to apples comparison look at the likes of Checkpoint at $2 Billion market cap on trailing 12 of $100 MM and change.
Even the VAR's who crap all over CS on every other front seem to agree that Spectrum is a force in net management, so maybe it's not too far fetched to believe it's worth $1 Billion plus. The problem is, will Benson ever allow that value to be realized or will he keep the CS millstone around their neck. My wishful thinking is that the Merrill rumours may point to the possibility of a spin off.
