Little Joe,

Very good points.

The reason that I categorized gold producers as "commercial" longs is due to something that I read several months ago when there was great concern about the ECB and Swiss selling gold. Apparently one of the larger mining companies informed the Europeans that they would be buying up as much gold as the banks could sell.

Just to restate my position. I have little doubt that gold will FLY!!

But to follow the flight metaphor a bit further, there are many variables involved before deciding to fly.

Right now there is a heavy fog posing as potential CB reactions to higher gold prices.

The fuel tanks haven't been topped off yet. Translated... goldbugs need more investors to change sentiment and buy gold stocks or the metal itself.

We may have a potential leak in one of the fuel tanks. Speculative pressure from short sellers and an inability to tank on sufficient fuel will require the leak to be plugged by a new price support level. (Unless that leak can be patched quick).

The sun will be up in a very short period bringing a wholely different picture of our surroundings. The Sun will burn off the fog (which is always thickest just before dawn). And the Sun will become hotter as we approach Jan 1st, 2000 (much hotter).

So all we're waiting for now is the first glimpse of a Sunrise. We all know that it is near, but unfortunately all of our watches are reading a different time.

Thanks for letting me have a little fun... I realize it is a rather weak attempt, but since I have yet to have my first Expresso, I have an excuse.

S&P up 12 points!!!! Go... BAAABBBBBBYYYYY, GOOOO!!!!
